Second Night – Chapter 6

  • Please re-read the last part of chapter 5 I’ve added some stuff. This won’t make sense otherwise. 🙂 2019-08-25

“Do you know why I live alone?”

“Doesn’t your parents like live outside town or something?”

“Well yeah that’s what I told everyone when I started school.”

It got quiet for a while. Max was gathering courage. It was not a thing he liked to talk about, it made him remember.

“My father left me and my mother, Stacy, when I was 10. One day he was just gone. He took the car and drove away. He didn’t even leave a letter. But he left one thing and that was the huge debt he had accumulated over the years. He had a drug problem…..”

Ella sat quietly while looking into the fire. She was shocked. This was really not the explanation she was expecting.

“We were forced to move to a super cheap apartment and Stacy started working double time. Even I was forced to start working. Just to afford the interest.”

“Why didn’t you go to the police…..” Ella mumbled

“We couldn’t, the gang that fucker of a dad had borrowed from threatened to kill us. They are quite big, probably the biggest in town. They even have people in the police. We were too afraid to do it.”

Max started to get a bit emotional

“We kept going like this for a couple of years with reoccurring house visits and assaults. Sometimes they would even come and rape my mother while I was in the other room hearing her screaming. That was probably the hardest part. I used to hide under a blanket covering my ears. Afterwards mum would usually be really upset, sometime even so that she would beat me. But I couldn’t complain, even I as a ten-year-old did understand what mum went through.“

Max Showed Ella a big scar he had on his back.

“But when I was fourteen…”  Max said while his eyes started to tear up.

“That fucking bitch of a mother killed herself!! She was too weak, she couldn’t take it anymore. I found her hanging from the ceiling with a chair kicked under her. Leaving me with everything, she left. Just like dad.”

At this point, Max started crying. All the pent-up feelings started to flow out again. All his anger and sadness. For two years Max had been doing ok, he had repressed the events som much that they didn’t even feel real anymore. But this was the first time in two years he really talked about it with someone. It felt good to get it out but at the same time, he was worried about what Ella would think. Maybe she would be creeped out. Maybe she also would leave him.

“For the last two years, I have been living alone trying to keep paying the interest. Last week they raised it… I was acting as a middle man on one of their “jobs” … I was selling drugs….”

Ella didn’t know how to feel. It was a lot of feelings that needed sorting. Max really shouldn’t talk like that about his mother but at the same time, she understood. Ella couldn’t even begin to imagine what it would be like to go through that. She had no advised to give him. No way to help. But one thing she knew she felt stupid. Stupid for complaining about her dad who drank too much, stupid for not understanding that something was wrong and stupid for not knowing how to react. She was scared to say anything. It felt like her words would hurt more than do anything good.

It was quiet for a while and Max laid on his back with tears in his eyes looking at the stars. Ella gathered up her thoughts and decided to lay down beside him and after a while, she hugged him.

“If you want to, I can be here for you. I promise I won’t leave.”

Max quietly whispered.

“Liar”

He put his head on her stomach while she was combing his hair. Max knew that even she would leave but, right now for the first time in a while he felt safe and after a while, they both fell asleep beside the fire. This night was warmer, and it was a lot easier sleeping.

Fire! – Chapter 5

Maxes face was full of terror. What would he do if she wouldn’t wake up? After a while, he remembered the bead they found earlier. While shaking from the adrenaline he quickly took out the bead from the bottle, went to pry Ella’s hand cold hand open and placed it there. The bead lit up even stronger and she opened her eyes. Max quickly slapped the bead out of her hand so that she would not get burned.

“Ella!”

Her body started to shiver violently, and Max hugged her. She sat there not understanding what happened.

“What are you doing?”

“Y, you almost died.” “Come on, get up.”

Ella attempted to stand up, but her legs wouldn’t allow her to.

“No, I can’t.”

“Why?”
“M.. my legs won’t move.”

Max helped Ella stand up and while supporting her they slowly started to walk.

“Max, it’s so cold. I can’t walk.”

“Just keep going.”

They kept walking the whole night and Max looked out over the landscape. There was not a light in sight. It was almost as if civilisation never had existed.

“Max I can’t keep going.”

“Come on just a little bit more,” Max said while trying to keep his composure.

“No! I literally can’t take one more step.” Ella said grunting.

Max smiled, at least she had the energy to be angry. It felt like an eternity had passed, but the sun finally started rising. The sight was incredible and they felt the warm rays of the sun breathe life in their cold bodies. Max sat down and the built-up drowsiness came upon him. It felt like he could go to sleep right here, sadly he couldn’t. If he did last night would just repeat itself.

“Let’s head back to our camp.”

“Yeah…”

When they came back their clothes had dried and Max proceeded to make fire. This time he had a plan. He rummaged through his backpack and found the book he bought at the store. Max wasn’t sure but it felt like it had something to do with all of this. He decided he would read it later. He grabbed his notebook and started destroying it for the metal string in the binding and grabbed a stick from the forest. After fiddling around for a time, he finally made a makeshift fire bow. His hand still hurt but with this, it would be manageable.

–§–

Ella felt like she would collapse at any moment. But she wouldn’t dare try sleeping. What if the same thing happened again? She looked at Max while he took multiple trips to collect stick and destroying the things in his backpack. She felt a nagging feeling in her stomach, but Ella was sure she would puke if she attempted to eat anything. Instead, she went and to collect some water.

After about an hour she heard Max screaming triumphantly. He held a bow with a metal string. She was just wondering what he was going to do with it as he grabbed a stick and started spinning it with the bow. After a while she saw smoke rising from the board it was spinning on. That was when she realized they were going to have a fire. Max quickly grabbed some of the paper from his notebook and started blowing. After a while, a small flame rose from his hand. He quickly put it down and started piling sticks on it. Slowly but steadily a fire started to rise. And soon enough they had a campfire.

“Finally!!!!!”

“Max you did it!” Ella said while running up to Max with tears in her eyes.

They sat down beside the fire and Max went and got the food supplies. He grabbed the minced meat from the grocery bag and started to make two balls that he then wrapped around two sticks. He stuck them into the ground beside the fire. He grabbed an onion and cut it in half. He priced the onion with another stick and then also stuck it in the ground. Then he proceeded to patiently wait for the food to get done. No that was a lie he practically drooled over the food. Ella sat there still not knowing if she could eat but as the food started to get done she also found herself salivating. They both practically threw themselves over the food. Even though it was only minced meat and onion it tasted like a Michelin star dinner.

“Ella, are you feeling better? We finally got to use the chilli ingredients.”

“A lot, the food really helped.”

“Maybe we should make a bed for tonight.”

Ella agreed and both of them went to the forest to collect some twigs to lay on top of.

After a while, they had made a big pile of twigs to suspend them from the cold ground. Then they sat down beside the campfire.

“Max yesterday… What were you doing with those men?” Ella muttered while keeping as close to the fire as possible.

Max froze, he just remembered what had happened. He felt anxiety swell over him like a wave. He remembered the kick and how incoherent he felt afterwards. After the adrenaline had worn off everything had started feeling too real. What would he tell Ella? Maybe he should lie. Well, that would feel wrong but… He did try to sell drugs, maybe she even saw the Ziplock bag in his backpack. No, if Ella finds out. He definitely couldn’t tell her. She would worry too much. But maybe she would understand. No, he definitely couldn’t bear to tell her.

“Huchuc” Max coughed awkwardly.

“I was like taking a shortcut home and those men thought it would be a good idea to rob me.”

Ella turned to Max and looked him in the eyes.

“Why are you lying?”

“What are you talking about, why would I lie,” Max answered defensively and even started sweating a bit.

“Max I saw your wallet in your bag. You were obviously upset but if they didn’t steal anything….”

Fuck Max thought. What should he say…? It’s not really her thing to meddle in.

“Why do you need to know?” Max hissed at her.

“Well sorry. If you really don’t want to talk about it, I won’t force you.“ She said angrily while hugging her legs close to the fire.

“No I’m sorry… I guess I owe you an explanation.”

After a while Max started with.

“Do you know why I live alone?”

“Doesn’t your parents like live outside town or something?”

“Well yeah that’s what I told everyone when I started school.”

Forces of Nature – Chapter 4

The ball suddenly lit up even stronger and became super-hot. Max felt a warm current streaming into his body, it started comfortably but after about a couple of seconds, it felt like his whole body was burning. Max fell to the ground and dropped the ball. He looked at his hand, it had a big burn mark on it.

“Max what happened??”

Max was in shock. But quickly he felt how his hand started hurting.

“I, I don’t know”

Max ripped off a piece of cloth from his wet t-shirt and wrapped it around his hand. He had gotten burnt quite bad.

“I told you not to touch it!”

“Yeah, I know…” Max answered while rummaging through his backpack.

After a while, he found what he was looking for. Max pulled out a glass bottle and proceeded to poke the ball into the bottle with a stick.

“Hey look I made a lantern!”

“Good job,” Ella said sarcastically “Let’s keep looking for firewood.”

After they had gathered enough wood Ella and Max decided to set up camp beside one of the streams and began to make fire. They stacked big stones in a ring while using Maxes knife to make small pieces of wood to start the fire with. It had started do get dark, it was a lot later than back home which made Max think that they were probably closer to the equator. The weird thing was that the heat here was nothing like what it should be.

“Max, could you give me the matches?”

“….. I don’t have any.”

Ella who had been trying to stay strong couldn’t cope with it any longer. She just sat down.

“What are we going to do! We are going to die here.”

Max grabbed the biscuits from his backpack, put on a big smile and handed them to Ella.

“Please eat these and calm down. Let’s try again tomorrow, I’m sure we can get a fire started.”

He didn’t even believe what he said himself, but it seemed to help get Ella on other thoughts. After Ella ate the biscuits they went to sleep. Max felt his stomach hurting from hunger, but it was nothing he could do about it. It was very uncomfortable laying in the grass with just trousers, but he was exhausted. Slowly the sun started going down and the air quickly got colder. At first, it was only a bit uncomfortable but slowly it got harder.

“Ella it’s fucking freezing, I can’t sleep

“Yeah me too, why it is so cold?”

“I don’t know, probably because we are on a mountain.”

“Let’s sleep together to stay warm,” Max suggested

They coped up together to ease the cold but, in the end, it was still freezing.

“If we just had made a fire…”

After a while, Max couldn’t take it anymore. He stood up, grabbed a stick and started spinning it on a piece of wood.

“Max, what are you doing?” Ella said while shivering

“I’m making fire.”

Max started spinning the stick violently. His hand hurt a lot, and his whole body felt stiff from the cold.

“Nothing is happening….”

Ella laid on the grass while hearing Max swearing and grunting. Her whole body was shaking.  But hearing Max was a bit soothing and she felt very tired. Her eyelids felt heavy and her body started to feel warm.

“Max, I’m going to sleep. I think it’s getting warmer.” She said as her eyelids closed.

Max heard Ella who said she was going to sleep. He kept rubbing but a thing she said kept nagging in his head, “it’s getting warmer”. If anything, it was only getting colder. He wondered why she said that.

“Fuck.”

Max quickly got up and ran over to Ella. He grabbed her hand and fell a chill go up to his spine.

“Ella, wake up!!!”

He started slapping her cheeks, but she wouldn’t wake up. He desperately looked for a solution. He rubbed her legs in an attempt to make heat. Max started to rummage through their backpacks but found nothing of use.

I apologise for the short chapter but I wanted to end it on a cliffhanger hehe. I’m on summer break from school rn so I will actually have time to write on the story compared to before. So hopefully you guys can expect more frequent chapters in the near future. :)))

An Astonishing View – Chapter 3

Somewhere far away, a viscous white light suddenly appeared out of nothing. It grew larger and larger until it in an instant it retracted into the middle of itself. Where the light once was there where now three things Ella, Max and the book.

After a while, Ella came to her sense. She sat up and came to the realization.

“I can’t see anything!”

She started to rub her eyes quite violently, but it didn’t help. Max didn’t react to Ella instead some more coffee erupted from his stomach. The light before had been so bright that it left them temporarily blinded. Max just kept on laying down on the ground as Ella worriedly tried to feel around. Maybe she had gone blind. She put her hand on the ground and felt the grass. Not asphalt, not concrete, not snow but grass. Maybe Max took her to the park, but no it was winter. Or maybe she was dreaming, Ella thought. But why couldn’t she see?

Ella tried to settle her thoughts as her vision slowly started to return. When it returned, her mind became blank. What she saw was not a park but a mountain. Even Max who had been occupied with laying on the ground was completely taken aback. Both of them were laying on to of a mountain. They were above the tree line which meant that they had plain sight out over the landscape. The air was incredibly fresh. The view was breath-taking, and Max was the first one to snap back to reality.

“What the fuck is this….?”

“Where’s the city?”

He quickly stood up looking at the landscape in a daze.

“Eh…. Max, what language are you speaking?”

Ella asked without realizing she was speaking the same.

“What are you……”

Max got quiet. What am I saying? This was no language he ever heard before. After a while, he decided to try to speak English. His head started to hurt as he looked for the words. After putting a lot of effort into finding them he said.

“I’m speaking E……”

It felt like a baseball bat had hit his head and the last word only came out as slur. Max felt electricity jolting through his body as his eyes closed.

Ella sat in the grass watching Max as he suddenly started shaking and fell handsfree backwards. She quickly ran up to him. He was having a seizure. Ella quickly grabbed Maxes shaking body making sure he wouldn’t hurt himself. After violently shaking for a while his body calmed down and Max opened his eyes. He looked at Ella. She was barely keeping her composure as she did her best to hold him pegged down on to the ground. His whole body hurt, and he could barely move. Max sarcastically smiled It seemed like his muscles didn’t really like to explosively expand and contract. It was even worse than getting kicked. When he thought about this he stopped smiling. Ella noticed that he had woken up and asked.

“Max are you OK??”

Max nodded. How is he going to get the money back? Now he wasn’t only in dire need of money he was also in debt.

“Max!!”

His train of thought was abruptly cancelled by Ella.

“Yes Ella, just… I nodded, I’m fine!”

Max said but quickly regretted it after seeing Ella’s sad face.

“Sorry, thank you.”

Max said as he sat up.

“What happened?” Ella said.

“I’m not sure, but…. don’t try to speak English. I think I got a seizure because of it.”

Things were just too weird. First the book, then appearing here and now not being able to speak English. It was a lot to prosses and Max felt like he needed some time to make up his mind. The two of them together decided not to speak any other language for the time being. Ella also said that he had heard about something similar somewhere else. There was this boy from the US who had hit his head while playing football. He fainted and was sent to the hospital. The weird thing was that after he woke up he spoke perfect Spanish and every time he tried to speak English he would have a seizure. Maybe they experienced something like that Ella thought. But what was the odds of it happening to both of them? After making some senesce of the first thing they logically proceeded to the next. Though this one they had they had a much harder time answering.

“Where are we? Or rather… how did we get here?” Ella asked.

Max decided not to answer, as the answer to the question was not something he was aware of. Where were they? After a while, he stopped thinking and proceeded to do. They wouldn’t know the answers anyway. Their first goal should probably be surviving the night.

“What the fuck should we do?” Ella asked “We are out in the middle of nowhere and have almost no food with us. “

“Max Answer me!! How can you be so calm in a situation like this?” Ella almost started to cry

“I’m hungry… Let’s make something to eat.”

He glanced over towards Ella’s grocery bags.

“Well yeah me too, but how?” She said while sobbing

“Well let’s start by gathering some firewood.”

Max said as he looked around. This was the second time he looked at the landscape around them. Big mountain stretched as long as the eye could see. The thing they were sitting on wasn’t actually grass but lingon and blueberry bushes. Or at least they looked like lingon and blueberry. A couple of hundred meters down the mountain was a large forest stretching over the landscape. A lot of small streams were running down the mountain and after having recovered a bit Max felt how thirst struck him.

“Let’s go get something to drink!”

He said as he picked up his book, backpack and the grocery bags. Ella watched Maxes sudden spur of energy and wondered if he had become possessed. But she as well quickly got up and ran after him. It felt good to focus on something else than what had happened. After a couple of minutes, they arrived in front of one of the springs.

“Look at the water, its crystal clear.” Max said.

“It’s probably melted snow, it should be fine to drink,” Ella said with a prideful smile.

Max jumped to one of the rocks in the middle of the spring and scooped some water out. He raised it towards his mouth and took a sip. After that, he took a gulp and suddenly it was gone.

“Wow….”

“What???” Ella curiously asked.

“It tastes amazing, try it.”

Ella also jumped down.

“Wow….”

“Yeah, what did I say?” Max proclaimed.

The water was perfect temperature and tasted super fresh, almost sweet.

“I’ll go fetch my water bottle. Do you have one?” He said as he jumped off the rock.

“It’s in my backpack,” Ella answered while drinking.

It had gotten warm so Max took off his outer layers as he started to rummage through their backpacks. He grabbed the two bottles and jumped over to Ella. While jumping Max hit his foot on a rock and fell over Ella. They both plummeted down into the water.

“Ahuuu it’s so cold,” Elle said while laughing

After a while, they both realized they were laying on top of each other and quickly stood up embarrassed.

“Sorry,” Max said shortly

After getting up they realised their clothes where drenched. The only things they had where Maxes jacket and coating trousers. They quickly changed clothes. Max wore the trousers and Ella the jacket.

“Ok, let’s go look for some firewood before it gets dark,” Ella said while looking towards the woods.

They took their backpacks and walked towards the trees. The forest looked unusual, it was nothing like what they were used to. Unfamiliar flowers sprouted everywhere and big trees were covering the sky. The woods looked untouched no signs of it ever beeing chopped down.

“Max, do you recognise any of these trees or flowers?”

“Well…  No, I don’t think so. But I’m no plant expert so don’t take my word for it…. No, I definitely haven’t flowers like these before.”

Max stopped and began staring at a plant. Elle quickly walked over to see what it was. When she saw it… it was hard to explain. A big flower close to the ground with blue petals which formed a cup. Inside the cup laid a little ball. The small ball was glowing with incredible brightness.

“What is that?” Ella asked cautiously.

“I… I don’t know,” Max said as he started reaching for it.

“No, don’t touch it!”

Max didn’t listen and grabbed it.

A Good Book – Chapter 2

—§—

Ella just finished class and looked the time. She missed her bus. Just to be sure she looked up the time table on her phone and quite rightly, she missed the last buss. The teacher had gone over by almost 20 minutes by first trying to explain that it would only take 5 minutes to give them one last math example. Then one of the more problematic students had gotten angry and thoroughly explained to the teacher why and how he needed to visit his grandma at the hospital. And why it may be his last chance before she died. This was a lie of course, but quite a good one. Ella almost believed him. The teacher though, who already knew that this student had no grandma that was alive; got angry and started explaining about how he wouldn’t need to take 5 more minutes if they all didn’t talk so much and listened to him. It kept going like this for almost 20 minutes. Ella had thought about asking for her to be allowed to leave. Luckily, she didn’t. Another brave student had done it before her and was thoroughly screamed at. The only thing she wanted right now was to quickly get home, but that wouldn’t be happening. She thought about calling her mum to come to get her but then she was working and would be coming home very late. She would be alone with her father, he probably…. couldn’t drive right now, and she wasn’t even sure if she wanted to ask. Maybe Max would let her sleep at his house. Ella grabbed all the things from her locker and put on as many layers of clothes as possible. She said bye to her friends and went out. It had gotten very cold and she shrugged. A feeling of anger ran down her spine as she thought about how she missed the bus. The next day she would make sure to let that boy know why he should never do that again. While making up a plan of revenge she reluctantly made her way through the schoolyard and further away towards the city.

—§—

Back at the cafĂŠ Max slowly reached for his phone. He made a big relieved sigh as he saw that it was Ella.

The message wrote:
“Max, can I sleep at your place tonight? I will cook you dinner.”

He quickly texted Ella “Sure, call me when you are close, I’m not at home right now.” Just as he sent the message another came in.

“Meet at the place.”

This was the messages Max had been worried about. He quickly sculled down the coffee, stuffed the book and biscuits into his backpack and walked out. Max arrived at a back alley. It had started to get dark and the alley was dimly lit. He took out his phone and started to listen to music again. Max was quite nervous, and music helped him to cool his nerves. He took another good look at the alley. If someone were to die in here the body wouldn’t be found. There was trash everywhere. Someone has had the brilliant idea to tip over a big yellow garbage can. On the other side of the alley, he could two men walking over. While sticking his hands into his pockets Max started walking towards them. One of the men struck up a conversation to introduce himself.

“Hey, how are you doing man?”
“Hi.”

Max who was very nervous just quickly answered as he took something out of his backpack. It was a plastic container.

“Do you have the money with you?” Max said.
“Yeah, sure kid you’ll get your money….. This is your first time, right?”

Without letting Max say anything he answered his own question.

“Yeah thought so. Try to relax a bit, it’s not like you see in the movies, Hehe.”
“Can I look at it?” The other man said.

Max slowly nodded and opened the container. Inside the box, it was a big ziplock bag with some green “herbs”. It was quite a lot.

“Come over here so I can take a look”

Max walked over and handed the bag to one of the men. The man inspected it and then said with a smile.

“Well, nice doing business with you Max. I think we will be on our way now.”
“The money!” Max said.
“Yeah about that, we’ll pay next time.”

The two men were not going to pay. Max who also realized this and did not really know how to respond. As Max stood there they began to leave. The song in his ears started to reach its climax.

“Give me my money! I really need it!”
“No-can-do kid.”
“Please, I really need the money!.”

Max started running at them as the song’s intensity increased.

“Fuck off!” The two men said as they turned around ready to face him.

The song reached its climax and with an explosion, a synthesizer together with an electric guitar started playing the main tune of the song. Just like the synth, Max felt his anger exploding… He lifted his hand from his pocket and gripped it tight.

—§—

Ella had just left the grocery store and once again she made her way through the now dark, cold and snowy weather. She was planning on making Max a chili. Ella realized that she was nearing the café that Max liked, maybe she should stop there for a hot chocolate. She thought about how nice it would be. Maybe, if the bookstore was open so she could buy a book. Suddenly Ella’s train of thought was interrupted by some people screaming loudly in an alley. Firstly, she didn’t think much of it and decided to just not take the way that went past the alley. But as she got closer she started to recognize one of the voices, it belonged to Max. The voice sounded nervous but angry and she decided to quickly make her way over there. When she arrived, she saw Max furiously running towards two men. Suddenly a cold metal light flashed, and one of the men pulled a knife. To her surprise, his body moved on its own and started running towards Max. Max looked at the knife but at the same time, he didn’t notice it. The man not holding the knife told the other one to lower it. After that, he took a stance and when Max got close enough he threw a strong kick at him. Max who never had been in a real fight got the man’s foot right in his stomach and flew a couple of meters backward. The book in his backpack flew out and opened a random page. At this time Ella stumbled over the book and arrived beside Max. She screamed.

“What are you doing!?!”

Mainly after the men who were running away but also at Max. Max who laid on the ground started to cough loudly and after a while, the coffee he had at the cafĂŠ came back up. The book Ella just tripped on had started glowing, quite faint but glowing in fact. It was a weird white glow. Super white.
Suddenly the viscous white glow quickly increased in both strength and volume. It grew so much that it even started to envelop them.

“Ehhh Max, what’s happening?!” Ella said while trying to not look at the light.

Max didn’t say anything he just kept laying down on the ground. The light kept growing until it had covered the whole alley. Max couldn’t help but wonder if the kick from before had killed him and this was him passing to the afterlife. The white light had now enveloped them entirely. It slowly started changing to black as their eyes slowly closed. Just before their eyes closed Max heard a voice presumably from the book.

The silver-haired woman stared blankly at the ground. But Junpei noticed the hidden killing intent towards the servant girl. This had cleared his suspicions she really had betrayed the duke. Junpei smiled but he noticed that the girl wasn’t the only one releasing killing intent. The servant was gleaming as well..

Ami seemed to notice that something was wrong but Junpei signaled to her that she should leave it be.

“You Bitch!”

The aristocrat girl couldn’t keep it together anymore. Junpei laughed as the silver-haired girl darted away towards the servant. She held the coat in her right hand while she threw herself over the servant. The aristocrat who had gotten some combat training  was naturally much more experienced. She quickly gained the advantage over the servant.

It happened quickly but Junpei made sure not to miss a single second of it. Two girls fighting naked wasn’t an everyday thing and with real killing intent, this was something he couldn’t miss. Junpei enthusiastically watched as the aristocrat easily got a firm grip on the other girl. She improvised the coat as a noose which was firmly twisting around the servant’s throat.

“Your just a disgusting commoner!”

Saliva was flying out of the aristocrat girls mouth while she was manically shaking the noose. The servant girls were desperately trying to claw at the cloak while her head was shaking dangerously hard.

“How Dare You Disgrace Me In This Way!!”

Ami was standing there not being able to move even Ami couldn’t handle this sort of evil. Junpei smiled he was happy, happy for Ami to still be this innocent, happy for the girls fight, happy for being wrong about the fact that the outside was full of feelings and maybe just a little happy because he went insane.

The girls face started to turn blue and she was showing signs of cyanosis. Scratch marks had started to show up around her throat and they were bleeding. The aristocrat girls eyes had turned red. And by the time she saw blood the twenty or so ocean like blue eyes had been replaced by the blood red eyes of the devil. Junpei who had been caught up in the fight started to realize that the servant was going to die. The only way to survive was if she was saved by so cool and handsome hero. Junpei looked around, he looked at the scarred naked girls, at the forest, the tents and at Ami.

He sighed deeply.

He wasn’t exactly cool, well according to himself he was the coolest you can find but I don’t think that the rest of the world would agree with that. Handsome, I guess depending on the time Ami would agree with that.

Junpei skipped the hero part because if he had waited, the servant would have died. He dashed over and gently but quickly unleashed the servant from the aristocrat girls death grip.

Both the girls lay down opposite to each other and stared with deep killing intent.

The aristocrat looked at Junpei and said,

“I.. I wasn’t the only one who sided with the bandits, we were all in on it, that duke…”

“Trying to bring the rest with you Ehh.”

Junpei smiled.

“I like it.”

“He used us as slaves, we tried to get help from the guild and we sent one girl as a messenger but never we saw her again. The messages that returned but it was to the duke. He started treating us worse and we had to do something. We took the help of bandits and…..”

She went quiet.

“Aaa, so you all helped the bandits but only to save yourself from the duke?”

Some of the girls looked away and by this reaction, Junpei understood they had lied.

“Ha, ha hahahhaha!”

Junpei looked at all the girls and received the gun from Ami.

“Yeah right.”

He pointed the gun.

“Boom!”

One of the naked girls were shot while her blood splattered all over the others.

“Are you really sure you just didn’t do it for the money?”

“Boom!”

Another naked girl got blown up and now some of the girls started panicking.

“Well, it really doesn’t matter. You’ve helped to kill the duke you can see this as your punishment.”

Junpei walked up to the girl with the silver hair which devil’s eyes had been replaced with eyes of horror.

“I just want you to know that in hell all people get judged equally so I guess, see you soon.”

Loud booms and screams yet again rang out over the camp but this time it was the screams of young girls.

I’m going to start with apologizing. Apparently, Junpei didn’t deal with aristocrat girl in that way. I understood it wrong. I’m not sure if it really matters but I’ve decided to change it. I literally just deleted the paragraph when he kills her, but it’s here if you want to check it out anyway. v.5_c.1_p.3

“Let’s walk back to the camp.” Junpei said while jumping up the cliff that Ami just fell off.

Behind him Ami closely followed as they walked back.

When they arrived back a the camp one of the more mentally stable girls had gathered all the survivors. The girl in particular was one of the aristocrat girls. The aristocrat girl had long beautiful silver hair and was in her twenties.

Junpei found himself not being able to take his eyes of the girls naked body. Luckily Junpei had Ami standing beside him. She heavily stomped Junpei on his foot and glared at him.

When Amis foot who had the power to kill in one strike hit his foot it nearly broke. Luckily Junpei had high pain resistance. He gritted his teeth and threw a coat to the girl.

“Are you the ones that were dispatched by the guild?” The beautiful girl asked wearily.

“Yeah, we’ve been hunting these guys for a while they had a pretty big bounty on their head.” Junpei answered.

The girl finally couldn’t keep it up anymore and fell to here knees while crying.

Ami sat down besides the girl and started comforting her.

Junpei who was from the labyrinth naturally wasn’t very use to stuff like this. In a way the labyrinth had been much simpler it was killed or be killed and in between there was the need to survive. No need to sympathise and since you already had a goal there was no need to dream. It may sound depressing but at times like these Junpei was finding it hard not to prefer the labyrinth.

While Junpei was awkwardly standing looking at the girl she said.

“The duke, they killed him.” She started crying even louder.

Junpei looked weirdly at her. He had a feeling she was faking it.

“What a joke! You may fool these adventurer but i would never even for a second thing that you would miss that old duke.” A servant girl said with a despising voice.

The silver haired girl stealthily glared at the servant.

“Ha hahahah!!”  Junpei started laughing. That feeling didn’t seem to be wrong.

The servant girl viciously smiled.

“I saw you, you were talking with the bandits yesterday. I couldn’t find you under breakfast now i understand why. You were actually opening the back door for them!”

“What are you talking about, if i really was making a plan why would they capture and rape me as well.” The silver haired girls angrily said.

“HAHAHAHAHHA!” Junpei started laughing even louder.

“Thats self explanatory. Naturally you had planned it together with the bandits in advance. They would capture you in order to clear suspicion. After that you would split the profit and live happy ever after. Sady you forgot to calculate the bandit aspect in your plan. Instead of splitting the profit with you like reputable people they decide to keep the profit themselves and rape you as a thanks.”

Ami looked down and saw a small lake quickly growing under her. Evidently, she panicked. While tumbling around she saw the man. His stage was a lot better and he was getting ready to land. They came closer and closer to the ground.

The man accelerated his speed to gain the advantage of landing first.

With a splash the man landed in the shallow water. He was grinning widely. If it was anyone else they would be either slowly drowning or screaming their lungs out because both their legs were broken. Sadly this man was not anyone else and instead of screaming he started to prepare his killing move. He made a steady stance and was prepare to stab the unbalanced Ami. Just before she landed you could a loud snap in the air.

Skill [Aerial Breaking]

Hydrogen atoms gathered and stabilized under her feet and launched her away at an incredible speed. The man was baffled.

“Crack”

Amis foot met the man’s skull. He was sent flying with a horrified expression.

He stood up,

“Fuck, she actually had an aerial skill.” the man bitterly said to himself

The water under his body started turning red, he realised that he needed to finish this quickly.

Ami charged forth and for the second time the man stabilized his position to deal a blow. While attacking Ami shows huge openings, the man took this to his advantage and struck at her blind spot.

His knife flew like an arrow towards her but just as it was about to strike Ami spun around in the air and he suddenly felt a warm feeling around his throat. Ami who just took out the cerberus canine was feeling pretty proud of herself. But if you looked at it from the man’s perspective it was like she was staring through his soul with a devils expression.

He started to press against his artery. The bleeding stopped but with that came the prevention of blood flow to his brain. The man was manakilly choking himself for a while until he lost consciousness and fell to the ground.

When the man fell to the ground Ami repeated Junpies words.

“If a strong opponent is fatally wounded.”

She aimed the gun towards the head of the man

“Boom!”

Blood and brain matter splattered everywhere.

“First check the situation, then from a safe distance and incapacitate the enemy.”

“Boom!”

“Boom, boom….”

“The best way is to use several different attacks until you’re one hundred percent sure that the enemy is dead.”

“Boom!”

Junpei was watching the scene from a distance.

Ami was standing in the now red water and shooting a dead corpse or at this stage it was more like a lump of meat with a perfectly happy expression. Junpei decided thats he was going to thoroughly delete the thought of Ami being the goddess of the battlefield from his mind. At this stage she was more like a psychopath making mincing meat for dinner.

Junpei walked down to Ami.

“My level have only risen by seven these last days.” She complained

“Well you’re level is equal to a S rank adventurer so it’s only natural. Killing these small fries can only accumulate to so much.”

While fighting together with Junpei and helping him kill Hadara Amis level rose to 200.

Wile Junpei first subbed the no life king his level rose to 178.

Compared to Junpei’s struggle, Ami had a breeze. But since Hadara was one of those who was clearing the deeper parts of the labyrinth it’s only natural.

“Finally we have finished the guild requests,” Junpei said with a relieved smile.

Junpei was sitting on Longswords dead body while looking into the dark forest. The muffled screams had quieted down and the camp was calm.

Soon he was going back to the dungeon.

Just the thought made Junpei shiver. Even though the outside world was bad it was nothing in comparison to the dungeon. Junpei thought of the Cerberus. That dog…. Junpei’s eyes darken when he thought about it.

“Are you Ok?”

A girl entered his vision. Ami was standing with her arms behind her back with a worried expression.

A breeze blew past and Ami’s hair fluttered in the wind. Junpei looked at her.

His darkened eyes once again brightened. Ami’s short dark black hair was a perfect match with her fiery red eyes, her lips. Her lips looked so out of place of this bloody massacre. It was as if a goddess had descended upon a battlefield. Junpei started blushing. But it wasn’t before Ami started looking weirdly at him he not it. When he tried to hide the blushings it just got worse.

Suddenly, Junpei takes up a basket of bread slices from somewhere and starts eating with an enormous appetite. (Even though he doesn’t need to eat he’s just pushing bread into his mouth and swallows.) After about an hour suddenly Junpei feels something different in his back. When he looks, there is his tooth from Cerberus pointing out from his inside.
“A, I swallowed my tools to,” Junpei thought the same second as his body suddenly collapses
The end
Editor 1:  For some reason, Bread was written around 10 times spread out between the pages.

Suddenly two people walked out behind a bush seemingly undisturbed of all the screaming that just occurred. Behind them followed an expressionless woman.

The two newly satisfied men saw the meadow and their bodies froze. Junpei looked at them with open eyes, for some reason they had escaped his detection.

Junpei handed his gun to Ami and said,

“Shoot, it will serve as good practice.”

Ami received the gun and started to aim. She steadied her body and just as Junpei had taught her, slowly squeezed the trigger.

A dry sound echoed around the camp but no blood was found. Ami had missed and one of the men reacted with taking up a bow and sending an arrow flying their direction. The arrow was directed against Ami but just before it hit her Junpei reflexively grabbed it and with an incredible force, the arrow started flying back towards the man with the bow.

The arrow penetrated the man and made a clean fist-sized hole in his stomach. He collapsed as started coughing manically.

“Sorry, I was the one who was supposed to kill them..” Ami said

”Is ok, me throwing the arrow was just reflexes.”

Junpei said calming.

Ami once again aimed and fired another bullet, the bullet penetrated the man’s back. He was maniacally running for his life but the speed of the bullet far exceeded any humans. The entry wound was small as a fingernail but the exit wound was something out of this world. The man who got shot was desperately trying to gather up his intestines back inside him and use healing magic, but with no effect.

“Well done!” Junpei said with a happy expression.

Ami smiled while feeling proud.

After sending a glance towards Ami Junpei closed his eyes and concentrated.

“There’s only one left, you go deal with him.” Junpei quietly whispered to Ami while pointing to one of the trees.

“And take this.” He handed Ami the Cerberus canine. She received the knife and leaped towards the tree.

When she arrived a small figure jumped off the tree and started fleeing deeper into the forest.

Ami ran after him at a fast pace. The small man was extremely fast for being so small. He was using the trees as handles while throwing his body forward. After a while, the dark forest stated a to clear up and they arrived at a big glade. The sun shone right into Ami’s eyes so she was forced to close them. Suddenly she felt how a wave of water vapor hit her face. She opened her eyes and enjoyed the feeling but suddenly the little man in front of her disappeared. She opened and closed her eyes with a baffled expression before she disappeared as well.

Hope you liked this chapter!

This chapter took a while to get out. Mainly because these weeks have been pretty harsh. I’ve had 4 essays and one test so I had to spend a lot of time on those.

Right now I have a break from school and I hope I get some more time to translate. But since I and my family is away skiing I probably don’t have a lot of time anyway.

I’ve mad a Twitter account to more easily keep you updated on the progress, please consider following. https://twitter.com/Legit_TL

Edit:

I seem like paichun started translating it again, well I guess you guys don’t need me anymore xD.

He’s translations is probably better since he can read Japanese and is more experienced. Depending on if he is going to keep on translating I might leave it to him. I need to make some things up so the story is readable since I’m machine translating it. (things get removed in the translation and such). The grammar might not be perfect either since my native language isn’t english.

What Do You Guys Think?

Edit: I think I’m banned from commenting on paichuns posts xDDdddd
